Jukka-Pekka Saraste makes a welcome return to the BBC Symphony Orchestra for a concert which includes the UK premiere of Finnish composer Magnus Lindberg's clarinet concerto, peformed by Kari Kriikku, a virtuoso interpreter of contemporary music. The Prokofiev symphony cycle continues with the tragic Sixth Symphony, inspired in part by the second world war, and the concert closes with Janácek's spectacular Sinfonietta.
